Neil Young Shares Live ‘The Losing End’ From 1973

Neil Young, who today celebrates his 75th birthday, unveiled a previously unreleased live version of “The Losing End.” The track is one of 50 never before heard included on Young’s Archives Volume II: 1972 – 1976 box set, which arrives on November 20.

Archives Volume II: 1972 – 1976 consists of 10 discs worth of material. “The Losing End” is featured on the set’s fourth disc, Roxy: Tonight’s The Night Live. Young was backed by the Santa Monica Flyers at the Roxy in Hollywood on September 22, 1973 for the show documented on the disc.

“The Losing End” is the only previously unreleased track included on Roxy: Tonight’s The Night Live, a live LP first put out in 2018. Neil originally issued “The Losing End” on his 1969 studio album with Crazy Horse, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
