Neil Young Shares 2nd ‘Fireside Sessions’
Neil Young shared video of his second, Fireside Sessions, from he and Daryl Hannah’s house in Telluride, Colorado. The legendary singer-songwriter treated viewers to a live debut and a number of rarities during the seven-song set.
Young kicked off the session outside in the snow with an acoustic guitar and harmonica rendition of “Four Strong Winds” by Ian Tyson of the Candian folk duo Ian & Sylvia. The Fireside Session version marked just the third time Young played the song live since 2014 as per Neil Young fansite Sugar Mountain. Neil then headed inside for a piano version of Rosie & The Originals’ “Angel Baby,” a debut for Young, followed by “Birds” for just the sixth time in as many years.
Neil then delivered a fireside rendition of “On The Beach,” which has only been played once in concert since 2003. Young would fittingly stay by the hearth for “Homefires,” a song that made its first live appearance in 2018 after a 20-year absence. “Words,” the closing track on Neil’s landmark 1972 album Harvest, followed. Young debuted the song in 1973 and then didn’t play it live again until 2000. Neil closed out the Fireside Session next to the woodpile with “Love And Only Love” featuring his horseshoe harmonica holder.
