Neal Casal Says Circles Around The Sun Will Record More Music

One of the biggest surprises to come out of 2015’s Fare Thee Well – Celebrating 50 Years Of Grateful Dead concerts was the emergence of Circles Around The Sun. Video director Justin Kreutzmann recruited guitarist Neal Casal to create music to played during intermission of the concerts and Casal put together Circles Around The Sun. The resulting music impressed fans enough that an official recording was released and the band went on to make their live debut at this year’s Lockn’ Festival. Casal revealed in a new interview that Circles Around The Sun has more to give.
Circles Around The Sun will play Fare Thee Well co-producer Peter Shapiro’s Brooklyn Bowl venue in New York City on Wednesday night. Ahead of the show Casal spoke with the venue’s website and mentioned what lies ahead for the group. “We’re definitely going to record more music at some point in the future. We’re all really excited about the possibilities ahead of us for records and more touring.” Considering CATS’s set was one of the highlights of Lockn’, this is certainly welcome news. Neal is joined in the band by his CRB band mate Adam MacDougall on keyboards, drummer Mark Levy and bassist Dan Horne. Circles Around The Sun released Interludes For The Dead a year ago.
