Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats Perform ‘Hey Mama’ For ‘Austin City Limits’: Exclusive Premiere

The 44th season of Austin City Limits concludes this weekend with a special episode featuring performance highlights from the 17th Annual Americana Honors & Awards. JamBase is pleased to preview the season finale by premiering video of Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats‘ performance of “Hey Mama” from the episode.

ACL’s season finale was filmed at the historic Ryman Auditorium on September 12, 2018. “I am continually humbled to experience the caliber of talent that gathers under one roof for one incredibly special night of the year,” said Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the Americana Music Association. “I have nothing but absolute reverence for every single one of these musicians and am looking forward to witnessing more of their evidently fruitful careers for years to come.”

Buddy Miller led a house band that included Don Was, Jerry Pentecost, Joe Pisapia, Ian Fitchuk, Lillie Mae, Joshua Grange, Jim Hoke and the McCrary Sisters backing many of the evening’s performers. Some of the highlights that will air on Austin City Limits this weekend are Rateliff, Fantastic Negrito and Lukas Nelson teaming up for a cover of CCR’s “Fortunate Son,” Brandi Carlile performing her own “The Joke,” Margo Price leading the house band on “A Little Pain,” Lukas pairing up with Promise Of The Real for the gorgeous “Forget About Georgia,” the legendary John Prine singing “Summer’s End” and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit’s “White Man’s World.” The finale features a rousing rendition of “Chain Of Fools.”
