Mumford & Sons & Others Join Willie Nelson At Austin City Limits Music Festival

The second weekend of the 15th annual Austin City Limits Music Festival held at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas came to an end on Sunday. Yesterday’s final slate of performances featured legendary outlaw country musician Willie Nelson who was joined by a number of the day’s acts including Mumford & Sons, who themselves were joined by HAIM during an appearance later in the night.

Only on the bill for the second weekend of this year’s pair of ACL Fests, Nelson was introduced by actor Matthew McConaughey and with The Family Band offered many of his most beloved staples. “Whiskey River” opened his set and he treated the audience to other hits such as “On the Road Again,” “Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys” and “Georgia on My Mind.” Fellow ACL performers Mumford & Sons were brought to the stage along with Margo Price, Nathaniel Rateliff and others during the finale medley that incorporated “Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die,” “Will The Circle Be Unbroken,” “I’ll Fly Away” and “I Saw the Light.”

Mumford & Sons followed Nelson’s set with a performance that stuck to an almost identical setlist from the first weekend. One change to the set that pulled from their LPs Wilder Mind, Babel and Sigh No More came during the encore as they scrapped a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire” in favor of a show closing take on The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends.” Mumford & Sons got help from their friends in HAIM and Gregory Porter during the finale.
