moe. shared pro-shot video of a stellar “Rebubula” from a recent show in New Orleans. The classic jam vehicle brought the band’s first of two nights at Tipitina’s on April 29 and 30 to a close.
Bassist Rob Derhak wrote the setlist for night one at Tip’s, a process moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey explained during a “The Art Of The Setlist” segment on The JamBase Podcast. Derhak handled lead vocals on many songs throughout the concert including the “Captain America” opener and “Rebubula” finale.

Rob Derhak, Chuck Garvey and bandmates keyboardist Nate Wilson, guitarist Al Schnier, percussionist Jim Loughlin and drummer Vinnie Amico went heavy on old school originals such as the songs previously mentioned, “St. Augustine,” “Opium,” “Okayalright” and “Understand” in NOLA on the 29th. Both sets featured a cover as moe. took on the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway” in the first set and Steely Dan’s “Do It Again” in the second set.
“Rebubula” dates back to 1994 and is one of the most played songs in moe. history. The band has often placed other tunes within “Rebubula” but kept the version in New Orleans as a standalone take. Loughlin began the jam with a xylophone solo at Tip’s. Garvey then weaved together a series of anthemic licks into an outstanding solo of his own. Wilson was on organ for the majority of the 13-minute “Rebubula” adding a different dimension to the improv and composed sections.
