moe. Busts Out Pink Floyd Cover In Buffalo
By Nate Todd Nov 16, 2019 • 12:04 pm PST
moe. continued their three-night run at the Town Ballroom in Buffalo on Friday. The Buffalo-bred band treated the hometown crowd to some classic Pink Floyd covers for the first time in over a year as well as a little local flavor.
The five-piece got things going in earnest with bassist Rob Derhak‘s “Prestige Worldwide” — a nod to the film Step Brothers — before jumping straight into the rarity “It” which in turn led into “LL3.” Percussionist and vibe ace Jim Loughlin then led the band into a well jammed “Bearsong” to cap off the section. Guitarist Al Schnier‘s “ATL” segued into the classic “Recreational Chemistry” to close out the first frame.
While the first set was no slouch, the continuous second set turned things up a notch beginning with “Hi & Lo” into Pink Floyd’s “Breathe.” Next up, a section that saw the band weaving Pink Floyd’s “Time” and the “Breathe Reprise” throughout “Kids” with a “Down Boy” thrown in for good measure. After “Breathe Reprise,” the band jumped into a highlight-filled “Farmer Ben” that included a “Truckin’” jam (the Grateful Dead tune mentions Buffalo) and a reworking of the Buffalo Bills theme song “Shout” which is played every time the Bills score. The second set came to a close with “Timmy Tucker.”
moe. retook the stage for an encore of “The Ghost Of Ralph’s Mom.” Check out audience shot video of that song along with “Kids” into “Breathe” and “Down Boy” captured by Mike Maciunski below:
