Just over 13 months after suffering a stroke, moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey has revealed he’s ready to return to the road full-time. Garvey will take the stage with his bandmates when they kick off their winter tour next Thursday, January 19 in Huntington, New York.
The announcement comes on the heels of Chuck joining moe. on New Year's Eve in Philadelphia for the majority of the December 31st concert. The show at The Fillmore Philadelphia marked the guitarist’s first performance since suffering a stroke in November of 2021 following the band’s Halloween 2021 concert at the same venue.
Guitarist Suke Cerulo and keyboardist Nate Wilson covered for Garvey throughout 2022. “This past year has been a trying time for moe., as a band,” said bassist Rob Derhak regarding their 2022. “We were faced with an unthinkable decision of replacing our brother Chuck with another guitarist. Suke stepped in and stepped up.”
“He brought his unique style, unparalleled talent, and hyper-focused work ethic into the group,” Derhak added. “Without his help, we wouldn’t have been able to survive the last year, and I think I speak for all of us when I say that we are eternally grateful. Thank You Suke Cerulo.”
