A group of moe. fans recently started a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to help defray Chuck Garvey‘s medical bills. The moe. guitarist suffered a stroke on Saturday, November 6 and faces a long rehabilition.
“Our friends Chuck and [his wife] Amy Garvey need some help,” began a note from “We’re on your side Chuck.” organizers. “As most of you know, he suffered a stroke last Saturday and has a long road of healing ahead of him. And while we are hopeful for a full recovery, it may take some time. We’re raising funds to help with medical and rehabilitation costs in hopes of making his return to health as smooth and nurturing as possible.”
Over $40,000 has been raised so far with the goal for the campaign $75,000. moe. bassist Rob Derhak shared an update regarding Chuck’s condition on Wednesday. “I’d like to let you all know that [Chuck] is currently getting the best care possible, and is in incredibly capable hands,” Derhak wrote on social media. “Although he has a long road ahead of him, he is a very strong and determined dude. I saw very positive and impressive progress yesterday, so keep the positive healing vibes in the ether, and continue sending your love.”
