Dream Setlists: moe. Revives Lost Classics Galore At TIME moe.CHINE Run In Charleston

The band brought out vocalist Kanika Moore for Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix covers on the second night of a run otherwise devoted to songs from the 1990s.

moe. fired up the TIME moe.CHINE for a special two-night run over the past two nights at The Charleston Pour House in South Carolina. The band, who continue to celebrate their 35th anniversary in 2025, focused solely on material from the ’90s, outside a pair of classic rock covers on Thursday featuring guest vocalist Kanika Moore, and loaded each setlist with songs they hadn’t played in years.

The sextet came out strong on Wednesday by linking “Havah Negilah” and “Long Island Girls Rule” to open. The former is a Jewish folk song moe. last performed 529 shows prior on March 7, 2015, while the latter is an early gem that had gone missing since August 30, 2014 — a gap of 566 concerts.

Al Schnier then led the band on “Threw It All Away” before his fellow moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey fronted the first performance of fan-favorite “Y.O.Y.” since he suffered a stroke in 2021. Schnier’s “Time Again” followed ahead of companion pieces “Seat Of My Pants” and “Sensory Deprivation Bank.” moe. closed the frame with the 2025 debut of the Camper Van Beethoven cover “Take The Skinheads Bowling.”

The oft-paired “Spine Of A Dog” and “Buster” kicked off Wednesday’s second set. Next, keyboardist Nate Wilson helmed a take on Blind Melon’s 1993 smash “No Rain.” moe. then offered a rare “Johnny Lineup” before busting out “Defrost.” The instrumental obscurity had been shelved since October 14, 2021. The six-piece delivered improv-laden versions of staples “Yodelittle” and “Meat” to end the set and returned for a “Don’t Fuck With Flo” encore.

moe. dug even deeper into their massive repertoire on Thursday. The night started innocently with “Bring You Down” and “Brent Black.” Perhaps the biggest surprise of the run followed as moe. performed “She Sends Me” for the first time since September 29, 2013 — a span of 651 shows. Written by Schnier for the band’s 1996 major label debut No Doy, the love song captures a snapshot of the songwriter’s life at the time.

Last night’s show moved forward with bassist Rob Derhak singing “Nebraska” and Schnier returning to the spotlight for the recently revived “Me And Pat And Bill And You.” moe. broke out the latter in April after the song had disappeared from the band’s setlists for nearly 24 years.

A poignant “Four” kept the first set rolling ahead of the return of “Dr. Graffenberg,” a beloved classic last played on January 11, 2019. moe. brought out Charleston resident Kanika Moore to guide them through a set-closing take on Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song.” The former Doom Flamingo vocalist also joined the band for “Fire” to launch the second set. The Jimi Hendrix cover hadn’t been performed by moe. since January 22, 2016.

moe. devoted the rest of their final set at The Pour House to jam vehicles “Happy Hour Hero,” “Recreational Chemistry” and “Rebubula.” The band fit “Spaz Medicine” within “Rebubula.” The encore began with the first version of Schnier’s “Queen Of The Rodeo” in 647 shows. Recorded by moe. for the 1998 LP Tin Cans & Car Tires, the tune had been mothballed dating back to October 5, 2013. “Stranger Than Fiction” was tacked on for good measure to bring the outfit’s time in Charleston to an end.
