moe. Asks Fans To Share Memories In Honor Of 30th Anniversary
moe. was formed in 1990 on the campus of the University of Buffalo and despite the COVID-19 pandemic keeping the quintet off the road for the foreseeable future, the band still wants to celebrate their 30th anniversary this year. Bassist Rob Derhak stars in a hilarious video in which he puts out a call for fans to participate in a virtual celebration.
“2020 didn’t really turn out the way we all expected did it,” Derhak said after chugging chocolate syrup. “But it still is moe’s 30th anniversary. Well, one thing for certain, I can tell ya, we wouldn’t be here at all if it wasn’t for you guys — the famoe.ly.” He went on to ask the band’s followers to shoot a video in which they detail their favorite memories and post using the hashtag “#ThisIsNotWeAre” on social media.
“Tell us all your favorite memories, all your best memoe.ries. Tell us about your first show or your favorite song, that kinda crap,” Derhak explained. “Share your photos of your old ticket stubs, I don’t care whatever it is.” Rob noted the band will randomly choose 10 people who post videos to win a spot to hang with the band at a virtual happy hour. Entries will be accepted through Monday, June 8. “I wish we could all be together but that’s how it goes,” the bassist added at the end of the clip.
