Mockingbird Foundation Announces ‘Mockingbird Sessions’ Livestream Schedule
The Mockingbird Foundation will celebrate 25 years of supporting music education programs for children and young adults with “The Mockingbird Sessions” virtual festival this weekend. Both musical performances and music-related programming will be part of event with the schedule for the free livestreams recently revealed. “The Mockingbird Sessions” airs through FANS.live starting at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT each day Friday, June 4 – Sunday, June 6.
The all-volunteer-run 501(c)(3) was formed by members of the Phish community in October 1996. Over $1.8 million has been raised and distributed in grants to youth music education programs over the past 25 years. While “The Mockingbird Sessions” will be broadcast for free, viewers are urged to donate to the organization.
Friday’s action begins with a “Bass Master Class” featuring Reed Mathis, Karina Rykman and Chris Wood. Musical performances follow on the first day from Dopapod, Universe Peoples, Pete Pidgeon, Twang Is Dead & Friends, The Jauntee and Neighbor. A “Keyboards Master Class” featuring Rob Barraco and Jonny Grusauskas and “Drums Master Class” featuring Nikki Glaspie and Russ Lawton kick off Saturday’s livestream.
Saturday musical performances come from Ari Joshua, Dan Wilson, Soule Monde, Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio and a supergroup featuring Marco Benevento, Joe Russo, Christian McBride and Mikaela Davis. The second day ends with a “Tapers Master Class” hosted by Charlie Dirksen that includes tapers Dr. Bob Wagner, Charlie Miller, Parker Harrington, Eliot Byron, Todd Ahrens and Craig Hillwig. “The Mockingbird Sessions” concludes on Sunday with “Music Education” and “Guitar” master classes followed by performances from The Sweet Lillies, phoffman, APB, Yonder Mountain Trio and Ryan Montbleau.
