Midnight North Welcomes Twiddle’s Mihali In Asbury Park

Midnight North hit Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, New Jersey on Thursday as part of the band’s 2022 There’s Always A Story Tour around their 2021 album of the same name. Midnight North welcomed Twiddle guitarist Mihali Savoulidis, who opened up the concert.

Midnight North got their set underway with There’s Always A Story’s “We’re Not Alone” followed by a tune, “Playing A Poor Hand Well,” from their 2017 album, Under The Lights. Midnight North then delivered a cover of Funkadelic’s “Can You Get To That.” A trio of Always A Story cuts “Good Days,” “Earthquake” and “Wild Card” followed before Midnight North welcomed guitarist Joe Cirotti for The Beatles’ “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Midnight North recently opened for Twiddle on a couple of dates with guitarist Grahame Lesh and vocalist/guitarist Elliott Peck collaborating with the Vermont-based band in Portland and Albany. After “Mississippi River,” Mihali returned the favor, joining Midnight North to close out the main set beginning with a pair of Midnight North originals “Greene County” and “Under The Lights.” The collaborators brought the set to a close with the Grateful Dead-covered Cannon’s Jug Stompers tune “Viola Lee Blues.”

Mihali returned with the band to kick off the six-song encore with another Dead number, “Scarlet Begonias.” The collaborators then presented a cover of the Isley Brothers’ “Work To Do.” Midnight North then backed Mihali on his “Over Land & Sea” ahead of Midnight North’s “The Sailor & The Sea.” The Tom Petty classic “Roll Another Joint” then headed into the Grateful Dead-covered Bobby “Blue” Bland number, “Turn On Your Lovelight,” to close out the concert.
