Metallica will perform a live concert that will be recorded and screened at drive-in and outdoor theaters as part of the Encore Drive-In Nights series. The metal band’s first show since September 2019 will be shown at hundreds of venues across the United States and Canada on August 29.
Metallica is the first band featured in the Encore Drive-In Nights series. The screening will include an opening performance by Three Days Grace. According to the announcement, participating drive-in theaters will follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommended guidelines for COVID-19.
“Needless to say, this is an exciting first for us, as we continue to explore new ways to connect with you and keep playing live,” Metallica stated. “This definitely qualifies as a unique and memorable experience for us. We hope you think so too!”
Tickets for Metallica’s Encore Drive-In Nights screenings go on sale on Friday, August 14 at 12 p.m. local venue time. Fifth Member fan club pre-sale tickets will be available on August 12 at 12 p.m. local time. Tickets will be sold by car, with up to six people allowed per vehicle. Each ticket comes with four downloads of the band’s upcoming live album, S&M2, recorded with the San Francisco Symphony.
