Maya Hawke Announces New Album ‘Maitreya Corso’ & 1st U.S. Tour In 3 Years

Singer-songwriter and actress Maya Hawke detailed a new album, Maitreya Corso, set for release on May 1 via Mom + Pop. Hawke previewed the record with the single “Devil You Know” and also announced her first U.S. Tour in three years.

Hawke gathered a cadre of frequent collaborators to cut Maitreya Corso including her husband, singer-songwriter Christian Lee Hutson, along with multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Lazar Davis. Longtime collaborator Jonathan Low handled engineering and production duties. Additional contributors on Maitreya Corso include guitarist Will Graefe, violinist Odessa Jorgensen and drummer Michael Riddleberger.

The follow up to Hawke’s 2024 LP, Chaos Angel, Maitreya Corso is the name of the main character of Maya’s new album who is a “magical misfit, whose sheer inability to adapt to the surrounding world allows her to create a world of her own, and to explore the positive and negative power of the ego,” Hawke stated.

The first look at Maitreya Corso is “Devil You Know.”

“‘Devil You Know’ is about trying to keep ambition and greed out of the creative process,” Hawke said of the single. “This album generally is about learning to protect the precious from the poisonous. Protect creation from pride. Protect love from control. Protect collaboration from jealousy.”

Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson are set to perform tomorrow (March 3) at Carnegie Hall in New York City as part of the Tibet House US Benefit Concert. The Maitreya Corso Tour kicks off on April 10 at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York followed by a concert in Brooklyn, the two cities where the album was recorded.

The trek will also hit Oregon, Washington, California, Colorado, Illinois, Washington D.C. and Massachusetts. The tour will wrap up back in New York City at Bowery Ballroom on May 2.
