Mavis Staples Performs On ‘Live From Here’

Mavis Staples was among the guests on last Saturday’s episode of the public radio program Live From Here. Staples joined host Chris Thile at The Town Hall in New York City.

Paul Simon was supposed to appear on the same Live From Here episode but illness forced his cancelation. Staples appeared twice during Saturday’s broadcast, initially coming out to perform “Change” and “We Get By” from her recently issued album also titled We Get By. Later, Staples came back to sing a staple of her live repertoire, Talking Heads’ “Slippery People,” along with the title track to her 2010 album, You Are Not Alone.
