Guitarist Matthew “Rev” Rieger of The Lil Smokies recently shared his debut solo project, I’m Doin Well. The seven-track collection features special guests Lindsay Lou and Micah Hulscher.

Rieger grew up in the Pacific Northwest and then moved to San Francisco to follow “the only woman he ever loved.” While he would lose her, he did develop a passion for songwriting. The EP draws inspiration from Jeff Buckley, Paul Simon and The Barr Brothers. “Rev” recorded I’m Doin Well mostly by himself with contributions from Lindsay Lou on five songs and Micah Hulscher on four songs.

Earlier this year, The Lil Smokies released their latest studio album, Tornillo. Rieger recorded Tornillo tracks “Wheel On The Water” and “Always Now Never” on I’m Doin Well as the more stripped down tracks “Quiet Never Lies” and “I Never Go That Far,” respectively.
