Legendary performer Dr. John was scheduled to headline the 10th Annual Mardi Gras Ball at The Hall MP in Brooklyn on Friday and Saturday nights. The good doctor has cancelled both of his appearances due to illness, but the shows will take place as planned as free concerts with DJ Cochon de Lait and Davell Crawford on both nights, and Empire Strikes Brass tonight and Soul Brass Band tomorrow night. Those who already purchased tickets will be refunded automatically via Ticketweb.

The news comes after Dr. John’s illness led to a cancellation of last night’s show which was supposed to take place at The Hamilton in Washington, DC. Doors are set to open at 7 p.m. this evening with Empire Strikes Brass set to hit the stage at 8 p.m. followed by Davell Crawford with DJ Cochon de Lait spinning all night long when the bands are not on stage. On Saturday, doors again open at 7 p.m. with Crawford set to hit the stage at 8 p.m. followed by Soul Brass Band with DJ Cochon de Lait spinning all night long when the bands are not on stage.

Admission is open to all with first come first seated at the tables. The New Orleans menu will be served before the show from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. next door at MP Taverna. Call 929-250-2312 or email info@mpbrooklyn.com to make a reservation. The show’s promoters advised they will have limited seating in The Hall on a first come first seated basis, and those that are seated during the show can eat from the New Orleans menu.
