A stripped-down version of The Magpie Salute played an acoustic show at The Family Wash in Nashville back in January. The band has posted video featuring a highlight of the performance to The Magpie Salute YouTube channel.
The January 21st concert in Nashville was billed as “Rich Robinson & Marc Ford with John Hogg.” Vocalist John Hogg and guitarists Rich Robinson and Marc Ford were also joined by bassist Sven Pipien for the entire performance. The four members of The Magpie Salute played a mix of classic rock covers, Black Crowes gems and tunes from the members’ solo projects.

The video below finds Hogg, Robinson, Ford and Pipien teaming for a rendition of “Every Picture Tells A Story.” Rod Stewart wrote the song with Ron Wood as the title track for Rod’s 1971 album. “I just like hearing John sing this one. I write the sets around how John will sound on it,” Rich Robinson said in advance of the foursome’s powerful version of “Every Picture Tells A Story.”
