One year ago today the music world lost one of its greatest voices when Bill Withers died. Singer-songwriter Maggie Rose & Friends honored Withers last September with a livestream concert featuring a complete performance of Bill’s iconic Live At Carnegie Hall album. Rose shared footage of “Lean On Me” from the tribute.
Bill Withers wrote “Lean On Me” for inclusion on his sophomore studio album, 1972’s Still Bill. The song topped both the Billboard Hot 100 and soul singles charts and was featured on Rolling Stone’s “The 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time” list in 2004.
