Renowned singer-songwriter Lyle Lovett returns to Austin City Limits with his iconic Large Band in tow for an episode airing on PBS this Saturday, November 5 at 9 p.m ET/8 p.m. CT. JamBase is pleased to preview the new installment by premiering video of Lyle Lovett and His Large Band performing “Pants Is Overrated” from their appearance at ACL Live at The Moody Theatre.
Lyle’s latest ACL appearance is his first headlining appearance on the show in 12 years and marks his 17th time on Austin City Limits dating back to his headlining debut in 1987. Only Willie Nelson has appeared more. In 2019, Lovett was inducted into the ACL Hall Of Fame by Sean Penn.
Lovett and his 16-piece ensemble focused on material from Lyle’s 2022 album, 12th Of June, for their 10-song set. One such tune is “Pants Is Overrated,” which shows off the Texan’s signature wit and sense of humor. The massive troupe was joined by vocalist Francine Reed, who retired from touring this year, yet accompanied Lyle and His Large Band for the occasion.
