Lucius unveiled the new single “Heartbursts” along with a video directed by acclaimed choreographer and movement director Teresa “Toogie” Barcelo. The track appears on Second Nature, a studio album due out via Mom + Pop Music on April 8.
Second Nature, the first Lucius album since 2016’s Good Grief, features 10 new songs penned by bandleaders Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe documenting a turbulent period in their lives. Dave Cobb and Brandi Carlilie co-produced Second Nature, which was primarily recorded at the historic RCA Studio A facility in Nashville. Jess and Holly were accompanied on the LP by longtime band members Peter Lalish and Dan Molad as well as Solomon Dorsey.
Lucius will embark on a spring tour in support of the album at MASS MoCA in North Adams, Massachusetts on April 28. Additionally, the band will open a series of dates for Carlile this summer and heads to Europe this fall. Second Nature was previously previewed with singles “Next To Normal” and “White Lies.”

“We’ve been wanting to work with Toogie for years after seeing her dynamic work with a diverse cast of artists from Perfume Genius to Dua Lipa,” Wolfe shared in reflecting on the “Heartbursts” video. “Because the song is about finding your joy and tapping into it, we thought what better way to emphasize that than with a group of people in their everyday life moments, breaking out with movement. We really wanted the video to convey the way the song feels when we hear it, and as a team, it really came to life.”
