Lucinda Williams played a set with band mate, Stuart Mathis at the headquarters of Thirty Tigers in Nashville for NPR Music’s Tiny Desk (Home) Concert video series. Williams and Mathis performed four songs from Good Souls Better Angels, Lucinda’s recently released studio album.
The pair began the set with “Bad News Blues” after which Lucinda addressed the audience. “‘Bad News Blues,’ well … we’ve had our share of bad news for a while now … even before this lockdown thing,” Williams said. “I’m doing good, Stuart’s doing good, our tight group of people — family and friends — everybody’s healthy right now. So, I’m hoping everybody out there is hanging in there and this too shall pass.”
Lucinda then teamed with Stuart for “Big Black Train” from Good Souls Better Angels. Williams went on to introduce Mathis before they performed “You Can’t Rule Me.” The set came to a close with a stripped-down rendition of “Man Without A Soul.” Watch Lucinda Williams & Stuart Mathis’ Tiny Desk (Home) Concert below:
