Linkin Park‘s new iteration made its television debut by closing out Tuesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a performance of “The Emptiness Machine.” The song is the lead single from the band’s forthcoming first album in seven years, From Zero.

Guitarist Mike Shinoda, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and turntablist Joe Hahn stopped by 30 Rock with new members vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain as well as touring guitarist Alex Feder one night after performing at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Shinoda also sat for an interview with host Jimmy Fallon.

From Zero is set for release on November 15 via Warner Records. Linkin Park are in the middle of a short run of concerts across the globe with a full tour expected in 2025.

Mike Shinoda discussed various topics with Fallon including the decision to reform the band after the tragic death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017. “I think the important thing for us is that we never set out to, like, ‘Let’s bring the band back’ or ‘Let’s find a singer,’” Shinoda said. “That was never our intention or our goal … It was almost like this new record … we wrote it, we came up with the music while we were creating the new band. When we started the music we didn’t have a band and it just came together while the music came together.”

“The Emptiness Machine” finds Shinoda and former Dead Sara vocalist Armstrong sharing lead vocal duties. Emily Armstrong alternated between singing and screaming in belting out the new single.
