Funk revivalists Lettuce continued a Winter Tour in support of Mt. Crushmore last night in Nashville. The band was joined by old friend Jeff Coffin on saxophone as part of their performance at Marathon Music Works.

Coffin’s musical friendship with Lettuce spans many years after the funk act opened for Jeff’s main employer, the Dave Matthews Band, in 2012. The saxophonist has also sat-in with Lettuce aboard Jam Cruise in the past. Towards the end of last night’s show, Lettuce trumpeter Eric “Benny” Bloom introduced Coffin as “one of the greatest saxophonist and a good friend of ours.” Jeff then emerged to add to “The Flu,” a song he’s played with the group previously. Coffin crushed his solo and helped flesh out the composed sections of the tune.
