Mar 1, 2019 • 9:00 am PST
Longtime Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals will join Lettuce at Red Rocks for their tribute to the JGB.
Powerhouse funk band Lettuce confirmed details of their fourth annual “Rage Rocks” show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Lettuce will play two sets and will be supported by TAUK and The Soul Rebels at Red Rocks on June 15, 2019.
One of Lettuce’s two sets at Rage Rocks 2019 will be a Jerry Garcia Band cover set. Lettuce first presented a tribute to the Jerry Garcia Band at this year’s Lockn’ Festival in Arrington, Virginia; where they were joined by a number of guests including Bob Weir, Oteil Burbridge and John Mayer. “We gonna funk up Dead Nation!” drummer Adam Deitch said in a statement.
“The scenery and feeling at this divine location in Morrison, Colorado makes Red Rocks Amphitheatre a multi-sensory experience by itself. Add in two tablespoons of Jimi Hendrix’s historic performances here, a half cup of The Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia’s legendary shows at the venue, and a heaping quart of the Count Basie big band’s gigantic vibe and lingering presence that is emanating from the area and you have yourself one immense vortex of goodness,” added bassist Erick “Jesus” Coomes. “It is hands down one of our very favorite venues in the country and is incomparable to any other place. Long live Colorado and it’s band of merry pranksters.”
