lespecial Plays Oysterhead In Worcester: Full Show Video

By Andy Kahn Jan 29, 2019 9:20 am PST

lespecial performed the music of the supergroup Oysterhead during a recent concert at The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts. Videographer MK Devo shared full show footage of the January 25 tribute set.

The trio of bassist Luke Bemand, guitarist Jonathan Grusauskas and drummer Rory Dolan opened with a fake-out of Phish’s “Chalkdust Torture” before launching into Oysterhead’s “Little Faces.” The track appeared on the lone Oysterhead head album recorded by Primus bassist Les Claypool, Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio and The Police drummer Stewart Copeland — 2001’s The Grand Pecking Order — which served as a source for much of the set’s material.

Covers of Oysterhead’s “Rubberneck Lions,” “Shadow Of A Man” and “Army’s On Ecstasy” preceded “Riddles Are Abound Tonight” by the Primus offshoot Sausage that included a quote of Primus’ “American Life.” Next came The Police tune “Behind My Camel” and Primus’ “Groundhog’s Day” ahead of a return to Oysterhead via “Birthday Boys” and “Grand Pecking Order.” An incomplete version of The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” with Pink Talking Fish’s Zack Burwick on percussion led to the set-closing “Mr. Oysterhead.” Watch the lespecial plays Oysterhead set below:
