Connecticut-bred power trio lespecial released Sandwich Cage, an EP featuring four inventive mashups. The band mixed elements of varied songs from the likes of Phil Collins, Metallica, Slayer and Korn to create the mashups on Sandwich Cage and also provided a twist on the T-Mobile ringtone.

lespecial — bassist Luke Bemand, drummer Rory Dolan and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Grusauskas — kick off the collection with “Enter Sandstorm” featuring portions of Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and Finnish DJ Darude’s “Sandstorm.” Next comes “Bugg’n In The Air Tonight,” which weaves together “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins and TNGHT’s (Hudson Mohawke x Lunice) “Bugg’n.”

Sandwich Cage continues with “Raining Blind Puppies,” a mashup connecting Primus’ “Too Many Puppies” with Slayer’s “Raining Blood” and Korn’s “Blind.” The EP ends on a hilarious and impressive note as lespecial turns the “T-Mobile” ringtone into a furious thrash-metal rager.

“This EP is an homage to some of our favorite artists and heavier influences. We wanted to create something in earnest with a tinge of humor, because after almost 20 years we’re the same three friends who got together after school to joke off and learn our favorite riffs,” stated Luke Bemand.
