Singer-songwriter Leslie Mendelson released her album If You Can’t Say Anything Nice… today. The new LP arrived via Royal Potato Family.
If You Can’t Say Anything Nice… is the follow up to Mendelson’s 2017 album Love & Murder. On Anything Nice, Mendelson takes a more rock ‘n’ roll approach to recording than on the stripped-down Love & Murder. The new record sees Mendelson reflecting on the turbulent sociopolitical climate of the past few years and she chose a good analog in that endeavor, John Lennon’s 1970 album Plastic Ono Band, which features a raw, rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic captured during another turbulent time in the world.

Anything Nice also sees Mendelson teaming back up with longtime collaborator, guitarist and co-writer Steve McEwan who split co-producing duties on the album with bassist Lorenzo Wolff. Mendelson previewed If You Can’t Say Anything Nice… with the title track, “Medication” and “Lay It All On Me.”
