LCD Soundsystem Shares Update On New Album

When frontman James Murphy announced the return of LCD Soundsystem at the beginning of 2016 he revealed the band intended to release a new “record (sometime this year—still working on it, actually).” The arrival of 2017 meant that intention never came to fruition, but thanks to a pair of Facebook comments there’s an update on the progress of the pending new album.

When asked by a commenter about “News on the new LCD album soon?” the official LCD Soundsystem Facebook account responded “sure. still working on it, but it’ll be done soon. winter tends to mess with my voice, so finishing the thing drags out.” A second, more forcefully pointed comment that read “WHERE IS THE ALBUM” was responded to with “working on it!”

In March of last year Murphy regrouped LCD Soundsystem for the band’s first live shows since 2011. They last released new music on December 24, 2015 via the holiday song “Christmas Will Break Your Heart.” A live album documenting their final pre-hiatus concert The Long Goodbye: LCD Soundsystem Live At Madison Square Garden was issued in 2014.
