Larry Campbell Covers ‘Dixie Hoedown’

Larry Campbell shared a cover of the Jesse McReynolds instrumental, “Dixie Hoedown.” The renowned multi-instrumentalist plays five different instruments in the quarantine video as The Campbell “Shelter in Place” Orchestra.

Legendary bluegrass mandolinist Jesse McReynolds’ “Dixie Hoedown” is a classic example of a fiddle tune. In the video, Campbell provides two fiddle parts over his accompanying mandolin, banjo, guitar and bass. Campbell appears to be back in full form after receiving a COVID-19 diagnosis on March 23 and being separated from his wife and musical partner Teresa Williams for more than a month before reuniting with her in late April.
