In 2023, Seattle’s radio station KEXP teamed with Mexico City’s world-famous Vive Latino music festival to help the latter celebrate its 25th anniversary in partnership with Indie Rocks! Magazine. KEXP shared a special edition of Live on KEXP from Mexico City featuring La Bruja de Texcoco.
“Celebrating her country’s traditions while pushing the boundaries of femininity, La Bruja de Texcoco gushes with infectious rhythms covered in traditional Mexican folk and jazz,” KEXP wrote in a social media post sharing a clip of the session. “Ushering in the first of many Live on KEXP sessions from Mexico, her and her enchanting harp captivate listeners with stunning visuals and heavenly vocals.”

Recorded on October 15, 2023, La Bruja de Texcoco (vocals, harp, violin) and her band — Andrea Sarahi Martínez Corte (bass), Arturo Martínez Siller (drums, cajon), Mónica Avelino Chico (vocals), Abraham Daniel Meza Salgado (violin I), Alicia Mariana Hernández Rodríguez (violin II), Samuel Morgan Pérez (viola) and Georgy Alexei Diorditsa Martinenko (cello) — assembled at the El Desierto Casa Estudio in the Desierto de Los Leones National Park just outside of Mexico City for the Live on KEXP session.
La Bruja de Texcoco’s five-song set got underway with “Nostalgia,” followed by the unreleased-at-the-time “Tepari,” which La Bruja de Texcoco shared as a single last year. The set was rounded out with favorites “Dxiña huiini’ (Dulcesito),” “Puerta en playa” and “CHÉNI (miedo).”
