The String Cheese Incident resumed their three-night run at Red Rocks on Saturday after kicking off their return to the home state venue on Friday. SCI welcomed Goose keyboardist Peter Anspach and vocalist Kim Dawson for night two of their Red Rocks stand.
Cheese launched the concert with “Sirens,” featuring Bill Nershi on electric guitar and manning the slide as well as Kyle Hollingsworth popping on clav before bassist Keith Moseley led the band through the tune. SCI then got into a jam that cycled between dark and light, laced with a Nershi electric solo.

“Sirens” gave way to “Believe” to cap off the opening segment. SCI continued with “Sweet Spot” and “Freedom Jazz Dance” ahead of a pairing of “Windy Mountain” and Josef Zawinul’s “Birdland.” Colorado’s own Kim Dawson, who sings with Kyle Hollingsworth Band, would then emerge to lend some powerful vocals on “Led Zeppelin’s “Misty Mountain Hop” and stuck around for set closer “Let’s Go Outside.”
“You’ve Got The World” got the second set underway, which saw Kyle doing Kyle things on some funky synth sounds. Nershi and mandolinist Michael Kang came together as drummer Michael Travis and percussionist Jason Hann built up the jam and dropped back into a dancey, four on the floor vocal section to bring the song to a close. Cheese then welcomed Peter Anspach. The Goose multi-instrumentalist joined Kyle in key world for the classic “Jellyfish.”
SCI went it alone for “Rollover” and “Sweet Melinda” to cap off the segment. “BollyMunster” followed before the band delivered a set-closing section of “Way Back Home” and “Desert Dawn.” For the encore, Dawson joined back in for Stevie Wonder’s “Boogie On Reggae Woman” before Cheese closed out the evening with “Colorado Bluebird Sky.”
