Happy Birthday Keith Moon: The Who Drummer Sings ‘Bell Boy’ In 1974
By Nate Todd Aug 23, 2019 • 1:44 pm PDT

Today, August 23, marks what would have been Keith Moon’s 73rd birthday. The Who drummer was a hurricane behind the kit and is widely considered one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. Unfortunately, Moon died on September 7, 1978. He was just 32-years-old.
On May 18, 1974, The Who took the stage at Charlton Athletic Football Ground in London. Moon manned the mic for a performance of “Bell Boy” from the band’s 1973 rock opera Quadrophenia. The dynamic drummer confronted his old nemesis, a pesky set of headphones, as he took the mic from frontman Roger Daltrey. It’s classic Moon.
