85 & Still Flying: Jorma Kaukonen Announces Special Birthday Concert Series

Jorma Kaukonen will commemorate his 85th birthday with a series of celebratory concerts in four cities across the U.S. Kaukonen will be accompanied by special guests at the shows scheduled for November and December.

The trek will begin in Washington D.C., where Jorma Kaukonen was born on December 23, 1940. Kaukonen’s concert on November 1 at Washington D.C.’s Warner Theatre will find him joined by his Hot Tuna bandmates along with guitarist Steve Kimock and singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale.

New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall will host the second stop of Jorma’s 85th Birthday Celebration on November 29. Kaukonen will then bring the brief run to the Masonic Auditorium in San Francisco on December 5 to honor his time as part of the classic Jefferson Airplane lineup before ending the excursion on December 13 at the Paramount Theatre in Denver.

Guests for the final three shows have yet to be announced. Tickets go on sale on Friday, May 16.
