Jónsi Announces New Album ‘Shiver’ & Shares Single

Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson announced a new album, Shiver, due out on October 2 through Krunk. Jónsi also shared the single, “Swill.”
The new single follows “Exhale,” which came out in April and is the opening track on Shiver. The album — Birgisson’s first solo effort in a decade — sees Jónsi teaming up with producer A. G. Cook. It also features vocalists Liz Fraser of the Cocteau Twins and Robyn.

The resulting 11-track record “plumbs the depths of the human experience and our connection to the natural world,” as per a statement. “It pits the organic and dreamlike qualities of Jónsi against A. G. Cook’s synthetic, sometimes abrasive, and avant-garde experimentalism. On paper, their collaboration is surprising, but Shiver only continues Jónsi’s quest to push the boundaries of not just what we consider art, but how we experience it.”
