John Prine, Margo Price, Jason Isbell and others recorded new versions of classic Prine songs at the legendary’s home. Proceeds from the sale of The Living Room Sessions tracks will benefit the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
Recorded in Prine’s living room in May, the singer-songwriter teamed with Price, her husband Jeremy Ivey on harmonica and The Milk Carton Kids’ Kenneth Pattengale on guitar to perform “Unwed Fathers.” Prine and Isbell then came together for a rendition of “People Puttin’ People Down,” which along with “Unwed Fathers” first appeared on Prine’s 1984 album, Aimless Love.
Digital versions of the two tracks are available now. A limited vinyl 7-inch edition will be issued on August 15 (Oh Boy Records will donate to the ACLU at least $8 from each vinyl purchase).
