Acclaimed singer-songwriter John Prine has canceled a number of upcoming tour dates and is working on rescheduling the concerts. Prine will soon undergo a medical procedure that necessitated the change to his schedule.

“In consultation with his doctors, John has been advised that he has an elevated risk for a stroke,” reads a note on Prine’s Instagram. “He will have surgery this week to insert a stent which will remedy the issue. He looks forward to a full and speedy recovery.”

John Prine’s headlining concert at Red Rocks, which was originally slated for July 28 will now be held at the Morrison, Colorado venue on September 18. Concerts scheduled for Salt Lake City on July 30, Portland (Oregon) on August 2, Seattle on August 4, Vancouver on August 6, Banff on August 8 and Calgary on August 9 have been canceled. “We are currently working on rescheduling the affected dates and will share updates information as soon as possible,” the note on Instagram explains. Additionally, Prine’s upcoming appearance at the 2019 Edmonton Folk Festival will take place on August 9, 2020 instead.

Ticketholders are urged to hold on to their tickets as all original tickets will remain valid. Those who want a refund can obtain them at the original point of purchase.
