John Moreland Releases ‘Cheap Idols Dressed In Expensive Garbage’ Single

John Moreland shared a new single, “Cheap Idols Dressed In Expensive Garbage.” The track is set for the Tulsa-based singer-songwriter’s upcoming album, Birds In The Ceiling, arriving July 22 via Old Omens/Thirty Tigers.
The new album is the follow-up to Moreland’s critically acclaimed 2020 record LP5. The singer-songwriter announced Birds In The Ceiling in April and shared the single, “Ugly Faces.”

Moreland now follows with “Cheap Idols Dressed In Expensive Garbage,” which “serves as a disparaging commentary on those who prey on the less fortunate from a faux pedestal,” press materials for the new single noted. “Moreland was inspired to write the song after viewing a social media account that featured various pastors misleading working people while draped in designer clothing.”
