Legendary guitarist Jimmie Vaughan was John Mayer‘s special guest at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on this date in 2017. Vaughan contributed to a pair of songs during a section of the concert featuring the John Mayer Trio.
Mayer’s visit to San Antonio came during his 2017 tour in support of his seventh studio album The Search For Everything, which was released on April 14, 2017. The guitarist split each show into multiple “Chapters,” including acoustic, full band and trio performances. The John Mayer Trio features Mayer on guitar, Steve Jordan on drums and Pino Palladino on bass.

Mayer, Jordan and Palladino kicked off the trio portion of the show in San Antonio with “Who Did You Think I Was” and “Vultures.” Then, Jimmie Vaughan emerged to augment the three-piece on his own “Roll, Roll, Roll.” Vaughan stuck around to close out the “Chapter” with a romp through “Crossroads” by Robert Johnson.
