Bob Weir, Bruce Springsteen and Lucinda Williams will be among those appearing in an upcoming livestreamed tribute to the late The Clash frontman Joe Strummer. A Song For Joe: Celebrating The Life Of Joe Strummer will be aired via JoeStrummer.com starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT this Friday, August 21.
The event comes on what would have been Joe Strummer’s 68th birthday and will be hosted by Jesse Malin. While the two-hour livestreamed special will be free, all donations will be contributed to Save Our Stages. Strummer died in 2002 due to a heart defect.

Dropkick Murphys, Tom Morello, Dhani Harrison and Josh Homme are more of the artists set to appear during A Song For Joe. Additionally, the special will feature the premiere of previously unseen footage of Strummer in action.
“To see so many musicians and artists come forward to honor Joe is really touching,” said Joe’s wife, Lucinda Tait in a press release. “Community was always important to him. Whether it was playing music with friends, organizing all night campfires, or hijacking festivals, Joe was always focused on bringing people together. Even though we can’t all be in the same room together, I cannot think of a better way for us all to feel united. Joe would have loved this.”
