Gov’t Mule are currently in the midst of a European Tour that included a recent guest appearance from Joe Bonamassa. After kicking off their tour last week, the jam act headed by Warren Haynes continued their run with a stop at London’s O2 Forum on June 1. The highlight of the performance came during the end of the show’s first set when the band welcomed out Bonamassa.

Ahead of Bonamassa’s sit-in, Gov’t Mule opened their performance with “Railroad Boy,” then followed up the traditional tune with a take on “Thorazine Shuffle” off 1998’s Dose. From there, the group offered up High & Mighty‘s “Million Miles From Yesterday” and “The Man I Want To Be,” their first song of the night off their latest album, Revolution Come…Revolution Go. Another Dose track “Game Face” came ahead of recent title track Revolution Come, Revolution Go.

To finish off the first set, Gov’t Mule brought Bonamassa to the stage to perform his own “If Heartaches Were Nickels” off his 2000 LP A New Day Yesterday. From there, Bonamassa stayed for a blistering take on Jeff Beck’s “Freeway Jam” to end the set. While Bonamassa’s guest spot was a surprise for the London crowd, the collaboration follows a long-standing history between the legendary blues guitarist and Haynes. The duo has swapped sit-ins and been tapped for various super jams over their 25-year relationship.

For the second set of the night, Gov’t Mule first offered up a take on Revolution Come…Revolution Go‘s “Thorns of Life,” followed by “Mule” off their 1995 self-titled debut. Live favorite “Time To Confess” came ahead of the quartet’s beloved cover of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Soulshine,” with the set finishing off with “Trane,” “Beautifully Broken” and a well-segued combination of “Bad Little Doggie” into “Mr. Man.” For an encore, the group returned to 2006’s High & Mighty for “Endless Parade.”
