Jim James Performs In Washington DC: Full Show Audio

Jim James stopped into the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. on Friday night as part of his spring solo tour. The My Morning Jacket frontman treated the nation’s capital crowd to a number of songs from his 2018 companion releases, Uniform Clarity and Uniform Distortion, tracks from his previous solo albums, and a few MMJ gems. James also welcomed a Love Femme from opening band Amo Amo for the solo acoustic portion of the encore.

James opened the show with the two singles from Uniform Clarity, “Over And Over” and “You Get To Rome,” followed by the fellow album cuts “Out Of Time” and “Just A Fool.” James stuck to Uniform Clarity with “Throwback” and “No Secrets” followed by “Here In Spirit” off 2016’s Eternally Even.

Another pairing of Uniform Clarity tunes “No Use Waiting” and “All In Your Head” followed before James looped back to Eternally Even with “The World’s Smiling Now.” After “Yes To Everything” and “Same Old Lie,” James closed out the set with “We Ain’t Getting Any Younger Pt. 2.”

Jim James returned to the stage for his customary solo acoustic encore, opening with “I’m Amazed” from My Morning Jacket’s 2008 LP Evil Urges. James then threw a curveball with “Hopefully” from MMJ’s 2001 album At Dawn, a song that hasn’t been in rotation on the tour, which saw the crowd singing along. The singer-songwriter then welcomed Love Femme from Amo Amo for a duet on “Of The Mother Again” from his 2013 solo debut Regions Of Light And Sound Of God before bringing the house down with an electric “State Of The Art (A.E.I.O.U.).”
