My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James served as the musical guest on Wednesday night’s episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. James and his solo band performed the lead single off the forthcoming Uniform Distortion, which was broadcast in black-and-white using a wild visual effect.

Jim James, guitarist Kevin Ratterman, bassist Seth Kauffman, drummer Dave Givan and a pair of backing vocalists treated those at New York City’s Ed Sullivan Theater and the television audience to “Just A Fool.” Uniform Distortion is due on June 29 via ATO Records. James & Co. performed the entire album live, along with select other cuts, one night prior at Rough Trade in Brooklyn. The band will repeat the feat at The Sanctuary At Pico Union in Los Angeles on July 18.
