Jim James, King Gizzard, Jenny Lewis & More Contribute To ‘Super Bloom’ Compilation For Los Angeles Wildfires Relief

Jim James, Jenny Lewis, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and many others contributed to the Super Bloom: A Benefit For Fire Relief In Los Angeles compilation supporting Los Angeles wildfire relief efforts. All proceeds will go to local organizations assisting with recovery efforts, including Sweet Relief, Direct Relief, Mutual Aid LA, Anti-Recidivism Coalition and Pasadena Humane.

The 62-track compilation was compiled by Nicky Devine, Nicole Lawrence and Nora McDonough in association with (((folkYEAH!))). Album artwork was provided by Robbie Simon.

“A ‘super bloom’ refers to the stunning reveal of orange and red poppies, paper thin against the dark hillsides of our mountains after a long winter or particularly blackened earth,” said Nicky Devine. “Without the burn, the vibrancy wouldn’t be so superb. It acts as a reminder: we will grow from this, and so much more splendidly.”

Others who contributed to the compilation include The War On Drugs, Mac DeMarco, Guided By Voices, Bonnie “Prince” Billy, Dirty Projectors, Robyn Hitchcock, La Luz, Dr. Dog, Hiss Golden Messenger, Ty Segall, Bedouine, Mary Lattimore, Particle Kid, Robert Lester Folsom and Shannon Lay, among others.

Jim James offered his track “DONNA.” King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard shared a demo of their song “Exploding Suns.” Jenny Lewis teamed with Cass McCombs on the song “Big Mother.”
