The first week of this year’s Todos Santos Music Festival concluded yesterday in Baja California, Mexico. Peter Buck of R.E.M. created the festival and welcomed a varied lineup of performers throughout. Wilco front man Jeff Tweedy was on hand and was just one of the Todos Santos artists to honor the late David Bowie. Tweedy and his son Spencer Tweedy also had the chance to jam with Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.
Jeff’s Saturday set included a performance of the Tweedy track “World Away” with John Paul Jones on bass, Spencer on drums and Wilco multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone on guitar. JPJ also played mandolin on Neil Young’s “Losing End” as well as Wilco’s “Airline To Heaven” and Golden Smog’s “Pecan Pie.” The multi-instrumentalist later hopped behind the keys for a cover of “The Jean Genie” by David Bowie.
