Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit Covers ‘Helplessly Hoping’ At The Ryman


Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit performed the second concert of their seven-night residency at the famed Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on Saturday. The band unveiled a cover of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping” during the encore.

Isbell and company kicked things off with “24 Frames” in a set that also contained “Cigarettes And Wine,” which, according to Setlist.fm, was just the third time Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit had played the song since 2012. The number is off of the band’s 2009 self-titled debut. Isbell and his bans closed out the set with “Super 8.”

The band retook the stage and delivered their version of CSN’s “Helplessly Hoping.” They then closed out the evening with the Isbell-penned Drive-By Truckers tune “Never Gonna Change.” Check out clips of “Helplessly Hoping” and “Cigarettes And Wine” below:
