A few weeks back Jason Isbell appeared as the musical guest on an episode of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. While at the Ed Sullivan Theatre, the singer-songwriter showed off his comedic skills by taping a hilarious infomercial for “The Saddest Song Ever.”

The self-described “alt-country troubadour” previews his new 180-minute, four-chord song in the infomercial posted to the show’s Twitter account. Isbell goes over some of the many topics covered in the sprawling country tune, including “unemployment, the troops, reliable trucks gone done breakin’ down, the devil’s brown liquor” and “the no-good bankerman knocking on the door with papers,” among several others.
