Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit are featured in an episode of Austin City Limits‘ 49th season broadcasting on PBS this Saturday, November 11 at 7 p.m. CT/8 p.m. ET. The emotional set-opening performance of “Save The World” from the group’s third headline appearance on the show and first full-hour outing premieres exclusively below.

Isbell And The 400 Unit made their ACL debut a decade prior in Season 39. Jason and bandmates guitarist Sadler Vaden, keyboardist Derry DeBorja, drummer Chad Gamble, multi-instrumentalist Will Johnson and bassist Anna Butterss focused on material from their excellent 2023 album Weathervanes when they took the stage at ACL’s studio home in Austin, Texas on September 18. Seven of the nine songs included in the new installment of the long-running live music television show are featured on Weathervanes.

“I sure do love doing this show,” Isbell noted of Austin City Limits. “Been watching this since I was a little kid.” Among highlights are standout versions of Weathervanes cuts “Save The World,” “King Of Oklahoma” and “Cast Iron Skillet” as well as “Flying Under Water” from 2013’s Southeastern and “Overseas” off 2020’s Reunions.

On “Save The World,” Jason Isbell sings about how hard it is to be a parent in current climate of frequent school shootings and all of the uncertainties in the world. Isbell and his fierce band deliver a powerful performance of the tune to kick off their latest Austin City Limits appearance.
