After fitting a debut and guest spot into opening night of his six-show Ryman Auditorium residency, Jason Isbell ended the second and third concerts of the run in Nashville with rare covers. Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit closed out Tuesday’s performance with Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” and went with “Wrote A Song For Everyone” by Creedence Clearwater Revival as Wednesday’s finale.
Isbell & Co. continued to put a focus on material from 2017’s The Nashville Sound as the ensemble played six songs from the LP on Tuesday and seven on Wednesday. The group filled the rest of the sets with songs from throughout Jason’s career including the Drive-By Truckers era gem “Never Gonna Change.” Each encore thus far has started with “Maybe It’s Time,” the singer-songwriter’s contribution to the A Star Is Born soundtrack. Jason Isbell And The 400 Unit ended the second and third concerts of the residency with the aforementioned Jimi Hendrix and Creedence Clearwater Revival covers.
